Notification No.2, dated the 29th January, 2005


Subject: Amendment to IRC:18-2000 "Design Criteria for Prestressed Concrete Road Bridges (Post-Tensioned Concrete)"

Third Revision of IRC: 18-2000 "Design Criteria for Prestressed Concrete Road Bridges (Post-Tensioned Concrete)" was published in October, 2000 and Reprinted in September, 2002 with Amendment No.1 published in Indian Highways, October, 2002.

The Indian Roads Congress has decided to further amend the above document and accordingly Amendment No.2 annexed herewith is hereby notified. This .Amendment shall be effective from the 1'1 March, 2005.

Amendment No.2 to IRC:18-2000 "Design Criteria for Prestressed Concrete Road Bridges (Post-Tensioned Concrete)" (Third Revision - October, 2000 and Reprinted - September, 2002 (with Amendment No.1 published in Indian Highways, October, 2002)

For concrete of compressive strength greater than M 60, this Clause may not be applicable and the values of permissible temporary stresses in concrete may be obtained from specialized literatures and experimental results.
7.1.3. (page 9)At full transfer the cube strength of concrete shall not be less than 0.8 ¦ck' Temporar'y compressive stress in the extreme fibre of concrete (including stage prestressing) shall not exceed 0.50 ¦cj. subject to a maximum of 20 MPa.At full transfer the cube strength of concrete shall not be less than 0.8 ¦ck' Temporary compressive stress in the extreme fibre of concrete (including stage prestressing) shall not exceed 0.5 ¦cj subject to a maximum of 30 MPa. For concrete of compressive strength greater than M 60, this Clause may not be applicable and the values of permissible temporary stresses in concrete may be obtained form spedalized literatures and experimental results.

The above amendment shall be effective from the 1'st March, 2005.

Notification No .4 dated the 28th June , 2005


Subject : Errata to IRC:18-2000 “Design Criteria for Prestressed Concrete Road Bridge (Post – Tensioned Concrete) ( Third Revision)”

Third Revision of IRc:18-2000 “designed criteria for Prestressed Concrete Road Bridges (Post – Tensioned Concrete)” was published in October, 2002 and reprinted in September, 2002 with amendment No -1 published in October , 2002 issue of ‘Indian Highways’ and Amendment No -2 published in February, 2005 issue o ‘Indian highways’

The Indian Road Congress has decided to bring out Errata No -1 and accordingly Errata No -1 annexed hereby notified. This Errata shall be effective from the 1st August, 2005
